Teen dancer with down syndrome breaks down after making school drill team

Bree Cox’s mom says Bree began dancing as soon as she could walk. “It’s the way she expresses herself,” she remarks of her teenage daughter, who has Down Syndrome.

Bree comes from a family of dancers. She has older sisters who’ve danced and been a part of the high school drill team. So, when it was Bree’s turn to audition, she was ready to shine.

The drill team coach says that Bree lights up when she dances and that she’s the perfect example for the rest of the girls on the team.

In an adorable video of Bree FaceTiming her father, we see her delight as she tells him the good news. “Guess what! Guess what! I made the team!” she exclaims with a huge grin.
Mrs. Cox tears up when she tells reporters how much the experience has meant to her. “A group of people actually saw my daughter.”

Bree’s coach and family speak of how hard she’s worked to meet her goals, and they know that the team will push her because she is capable of great things. Bree’s sister Adrie is also on the team. She shares how special it is for her to be on the team and that she believes Bree deserves the opportunity.

As the video ends, Bree shows off her favorite move from her hip-hop dance and adds a confident and spunky flair. What an inspiration Bree is to all of us working to achieve our goals.
