In a heartwarming act of solidarity, about 50 Santas from across the globe convened at the base of the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to petition for peace while spreading some early Christmas joy. The Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, is a monumental Art Deco figure standing 98 feet tall, with a 92 feet width, and weighing 635 tons. This iconic symbol attracts approximately two million visitors to the city each year.
These Santas, adorned in costumes representative of their home countries or simply wearing white beards and festive t-shirts, gathered as part of Brazil’s 4th Santa Clause National Encounter. They engaged with tourists, posed for pictures, and perhaps even took a few requests from children present at the event.
This gathering reflects the humility and reverence demonstrated in the figurines of Santa kneeling before Baby Jesus in the manger, acknowledging the miracles that occur throughout the year, not just during the holiday season. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” 1 Peter 1:3.
