Tiny Fawn Appears in This Family’s Yard, to Literally Stumble Into the Little Girl’s Arms

Animals have a way of working themselves into our lives. We are constantly seeing and hearing things about animals, and of course, we all just adore the pets that we bring into our homes. However, there are some animals that come into our lives without any sort of warning, and we just have to figure out what to do with them.

Because people are taking up more and more land wildlife is being forced to reside on less and less land. It is because of this that we are seeing different circumstances where wild animals are becoming involved in our day to day lives. You hear or read about an incident involving bears, bobcats, and other wildlife appearing in suburban areas quite regularly these days.

That is exactly what happened to one family who was least expecting it. One day a little girl named Maya and her dad Brad Herring were getting back from a long camping trip they had been on, when a baby fawn quite literally stumbled into Maya’s arms, much to both of their surprise!

Maya’s dad says, “We were unpacking the car from a canoe trip when this fawn stumbled across our front yard and into Maya’s arms. The fawn had a good sense about Maya and followed her every step. They were inseparable from the moment they met. Maya knew it needed its mother, who we believe was off eating and recuperating from the birthing, so she led it back to the woods until it finally hunkered down.”

The little fawn didn’t seem timid or scared at all but rather curious as to what exactly Maya and her dad were. It was clear that the fawn had just been born and so Brad knew that the mother had to be around there somewhere. They were sure that the mother was simply resting after the birth, but they didn’t want the little baby to wander off too far away from her.

While they were careful not to touch the fawn, they were still worried that the fawn’s mother would not accept her should they stay around her. And so the two were able to locate the mother and lead the little fawn back over to her. This little baby seemed infatuated with Maya and just followed her around with no fear or reservation whatsoever. What an amazing story for Maya to tell her own children one day.

UPDATE FROM MAYA’S DAD: “We have not seen the fawn since. Update: we saw two does and two fawns in our neighbor’s yard yesterday and then again a fawn and doe in our backyard today so we are pretty certain that she was found. Everyone, please take a breath!”
