In a world of rarities, this ghostly white giraffe is perhaps the rarest of all – and since her discovery, the news of her and her baby has been crisscrossing the continents.
The rarest of the rare, this white giraffe has never been captured on film before. In the video below, you can see the beautiful creature and her sleek, mighty neck jutting up from the trees. It’s enough to make anyone do a double take because they’ve never seen anything like it.
In many parts of the world, rare white animals are revered, but not enough are protected from poachers. As an example, there just a handful of white lions in the world compared to the meager hundreds in captivity.
So when it comes to a white giraffe, researchers, scientists, and wildlife managers, and everyday people are working and cooperating to ensure no harm comes to this magnificent giraffe.
“They were so close and extremely calm and seemed not disturbed by our presence. The mother kept pacing back and forth a few yards in front of us while signaling the baby giraffe to hide behind the bushes, ” said lead researcher and conservationist at the Hirola Reserve.
