Agricultural Engineer Ibrahim Sedef had a problem with bears breaking into his beehives and destroying his research. Rather than build even stronger defenses, he set up an experiment to find which honey the bears most preferred.
After watching his hives get torn up night after night, Mr. Sedef decided to take action. He set out a series of trays, three with increasingly more expensive types of honey, and one with just jam. Night after night the bears ate the most expensive honey first.
“The bear really knows his own palate,” said Mr. Sedef after one particular session, “Every time he gets to the Anzer honey [the most expensive kind] first he doesn’t even look at the jam at all.”
