NatGeo Takes Us Inside A Dog Retirement Home

Animals grow old as humans do. They also tend to suffer from various kinds of health problems like us. In some extreme cases, their condition seems to worsen so badly that even their loving parents don’t have the ability to keep them by their side and care for them. In some cases, animals end up outliving their owners. This means they are moved between different homes or even sent to shelters after their owner’s demise.

House With A Heart is a pet sanctuary that gives shelter to aging dogs with no family. It is run by Sher Polvinale in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Sher and her coworkers care for more than twenty dogs and they do everything they can to make sure the dogs live a very happy and healthy life.
