Wrongly-Incarcerated Man Floors Audience With Stunning George Michael and Elton John Cover

America’s Got Talent sees a variety of different people during auditions. Archie Williams is just one of the many hopefuls with big dreams that graced the bright stage. During his audition, he chose to sing the hit song, “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.”

One thing that makes the gifted singer stand out is that in 1983, he was wrongly incarcerated and sentenced to life in prison without parole. At just 22 years old, he thought his life was over. He served 37 years in prison before being exonerated in 2019.

He says that he would watch America’s Got Talent during his time in prison. He knew one day that he’d be on the stage himself. As soon as he got on stage to sing the George Michael and Elton John classic, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Simon Cowell even said, “I will never, ever listen to that song the same way after you sang that. This is an audition I will never forget for the whole of my life, Archie.” We couldn’t have said it any better, Simon.
