The Judds beautifully perform Dolly Parton’s “Coat Of Many Colors”

The last couple of generations of people across the globe have dealt with numerous world and local issues. Growing up poor was one of the most common, striking people from all walks of life. Naomi and Wynonna Judd point out that just because they are singers now, they started out at the bottom of the hill, just like most of us. “Coat of Many Colors” is actually a song by the already famous Dolly Parton. Still, it hits home no matter who creates the tones and vocals.

If you have actually spent the time to listen to the song, you will hear the struggles that people had to go through. Homemade clothes were not the exception but the rule for many. They did not have access to clothes like we do today. Making a new coat out of a couple of old ones gave someone a way to stay warm, and it recycled other clothes that would be thrown into the trash today.

Recycling clothes allowed families struggling to stay clothed, even if they looked like old rags. Most homemade clothes were just that, rags from other family clothes lying around the house. It was simple to cut the holes out of the everyday clothes and use them to create new ones to get by for a couple more months.

You are probably thinking about how rough this would be on you and your family. You may even be thanking your lucky stars that you have never had to go through that poverty level. As you can see from “Coat Of Many Colors,” people that are stars today have started from the bottom of the societal hierarchy. Backstories show this common struggle among the older singers in the spotlight.

Today we look up to the singers and stars that we see. We may all think that they have never known what struggle is throughout their lives. That may be the case for many new artists, but back in the mid-1900s, that was not true. Stars had to start from the bottom and work their way up.

“Coat Of Many Colors” is a Dolly Parton song that the Judds decided to sing when they first broke into the industry. It was a good boost for their careers while telling their tale growing up. Believe it or not, many superstars have gone through some tough times and are not much different than the rest of us.
