Merle Haggard squeezes 4 country hits to create a magnificent 3-minute medley

Merle Haggard’s legacy is his music, filled with songs about living, loving, and the country’s way of life. His simple phrasing is unforgettable.

Merle started singing country music in the 1960s. By the 70s, he was a respected star. He sang in 1974 on “Pop! Goes the Country.”

He combined stanzas from four of his hit songs into the lively three-minute medley. He ended by singing his legendary signature song, “Okie from Muskogee.”

The crowd cheered when he sang. Singing a medley lets listeners hear all of Merle’s biggest hits without them having to choose a favorite tune.

Merle Haggard died on his birthday, April 6, in 2016. Toby Keith performed a memorial medley of different Merle Haggard hits a few months later.

Although the music was uplifting, the occasion was still sad. The audience remembered the legacy of Merle Haggard and how he contributed to country music.
