For her audition, Brooke Simpson sang “Cuz I Love You” by Lizzo on America’s Got Talent. She absolutely nailed the song and easily got a yes from all of the judges.
During her introduction, she talked about how important the 90 seconds were, and she would do her best to make her tribe proud. She did exactly that and certainly made a lasting impression on anyone who watched her perform.
She is part of the Haliwa-Saponi tribe, located in North Carolina. Her family and her culture was the reason she loved to sing, and they inspired her to chase her dreams.
It was important for her to make sure that her people were not forgotten since they were so often overlooked. Her hope was to show everyone who her people were.
During her conversation with the judges, she revealed that she wanted to be the first major indigenous pop star because she had no one like her to look up to when she was growing up. She wanted to be a role model for future generations.
Her performance showed that she had a phenomenal voice that Simon Cowell likened to Kelly Clarkson, and Fantasia. They knew she had the potential to achieve her dreams.
Watching her sing on stage you could see how much fun she was having. Her smile was infectious and her voice was mesmerizing. She could easily be very famous one day.
