Thanks to Peter Jacobs and Wartime Radio Revue, the era of the greatest generation relives in honor of all veterans.
There is a certain glamour about the 40s and the greatest generation that gave their lives so the world could live free for the decades to come. There was elegance, optimism, unity, and pragmatism that resonates with people that were not alive to experience WWII.
That’s why re-enactments and revivals of the era remain beloved by all generations: those whose parents danced and sung to the Andrews Sisters, those who remember the styles and the dance steps, and those who learn them anew today in order to pay due homage to the era and its people.
That’s what Peter Jacobs and his band Wartime Radio Revue set out to do: to create a time capsule where anyone could be transported back to the 40s and get a taste or a vivid walk down memory lane.
The 16-piece big band with the three lady singers Christi Noel, Jayme Palmer, and Devyn Rush take us back to a WWII USO show and create the atmosphere of what it felt to dance, sing, live, and hope during the turbulent decade.
Their rendition of the wartime classic Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy is just a sample of the amazing performance this band is capable of: the ladies sound exactly like the Andrews Sisters, and the band feels exactly like a wartime band would.
