Adam Levine, Pat Monahan And ‘Purple Rain’ – You Won’t Believe How Well They Go Together

The Howard Stern Show channel released this video one day after the fact to commemorate the passing away of a music legend in Prince. It was a performance of Prince’s hit song “Purple Rain” by Adam Levine and the rock band Train at Howard Stern’s star-studded 60th Birthday Bash at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom in 2014.

And what a performance it was! This was a sublime, absolutely mind-blowing electric blues and rock version of “Purple Rain”. All the musicians were in top form, with Adam Levine the lead singer of Maroon 5 and Pat Monahan the lead singer of Train taking turns belting out a bluesy version of the verses and combining forces for the chorus.

It was already a spectacular performance but yet it failed to prepare the audience for the guitar solo yet to come near the end. Adam Levine took over and blazed through the guitar solo in jaw-dropping fashion! Adam can play the guitar, piano, and drum professionally but until then, not too many people knew that he could wing the guitar as well as any of them!

This was a truly unforgettable performance on a beautiful Manhattan night. It is highly recommended for all fans of Adam Levine, Maroon 5 and Train, and most of all ardent fans of Prince would undoubtedly enjoy and marvel at this great but super rare version of “Purple Rain.
