‘Stick-Boy’ Recreates DaVinci’s Self-Supporting Bridge In Backyard

Using a series of dowels and 2x4s, “Stick-Boy” recreates DaVinci’s famous self-supporting bridge. The structure stands without the use of any nails or screws and comes together in minutes.

When he started piling pieces of wood in the backyard, I’m sure this kid’s dad was a little wary. But soon he starts alternating pairs of planks with perpendicular dowels, and a structure begins to form.

This is the sort of simple engineering project anyone can do at home and gives a great lesson in how things are made. Plus, it’s just as fun to push over as it is to build.
