A birth can only be described as a miracle. This process has marveled us for many years. I love watching how a human being starts to form and all the distinct stages he or she goes through. We all start as tiny cells, one from our mother and one from our father. They combine to create a unique set of ‘building’ instructions. The result: you and me. The process might be easy to tell, but the work a woman’s body needs to put in it is incredibly complex. The entire process takes nine months, but we don’t need to watch a video for that long. There’s a video that condenses everything in only four minutes.
It all starts with millions of sperm competing to get inside the egg. All of them arrive, but there is one who makes it inside. The sperm combines the genetic information it carries with that of the egg. The egg travels down the fallopian tube and implants itself in the woman’s uterus. Things are just about to get started. The real magic is about to take place.
Even before each structure in our body can be visible, we are already growing tiny bones, tiny organs and parts of our body. Soon after that, the networks in our brains start to take form. Our little hearts start beating. Although it might be easy to think that pregnancy is just growing a human body, there is a lot more than meets the eye.
While we grow slowly, our limbs and appendages get bigger. We start to get more coordination in our fingers and toes and this prompts us being more active in the womb. Our bodies and brains get ready for life in the outside world. After this is done, next comes the actual process of birth. Even though you probably know all of this, I am sure this next video will completely blow your mind. Pregnancy has never been so inspiring or so cool.
This clip is a great reminder that all of life’s incredible mysteries are very close to us. They are so close but so wonderful that we often take them for granted. Each one of us starts as a very tiny group of cells in our mothers’ bodies. After many years we become the amazing and original people we are today.
