Wedding toasts are such essential parts of the ceremony. It is a tribute to the couple and an honest celebration of their union. Delivering them can be quite an arduous task as it can turn out to be funny, sweet, and heartwarming, or a total cringe-worthy moment.
On this occasion, the bride’s father did promise to do his best at the beginning of his speech. The wedding toast he delivered would cause every guest at the event, including the bride and groom to laugh heartily.
He starts his speech with a memory shared in Ocean City, New Jersey, on a Saturday in July. He and his wife, Sue, were sitting in their beach chairs watching Nick and Nicole.
‘With a real sense of happiness and a smile on my face,’ he recalls. ‘I turned to my wife and I said she’s going to marry that boy.’ The crowd expressed delight at this and gave a round of applause.
‘She’s going to marry that boy!’ He said again to his wife, only this time in bewilderment. The crowd burst into laughter- one of many that occurred throughout the speech.
The father of the bride complimented the groom’s family. He shared how happy he was to welcome Nick into his family. He also charged the couple to continue nurturing their enthusiasm for life and never change.
