‘Wheelchair Barbie’ is a welcome addition to little girl’s collection

This paralyzed baby is the happiest girl in the world as she receives a wheelchair Barbie as a gift.

Barbie girls are notorious for their unhealthy and unreasonable obsession with fair skin, slender body, and blonde hair. In recent years, things have started to change.

Mattel, a Barbie manufacturer, has added a ton of variety to their products: the company sells dolls with different skin tones, needs, and even bald ones.

Many parents welcome this inclusive approach, no less this mother who buys a wheelchair Barbie for her baby girl, Ella, who suffers from spina bifida.

Spina bifida is a birth defect that inhibits the growth of the spinal column. Ella is paralyzed from the waist down and needs to use a wheelchair.

No doubt, babies with severe disabilities like Ella often feel neglected or excluded because of their handicapped experience. It is to be expected.

So, when Ella receives the wheelchair Barbie, her face lights up, her expressions animated, her smile infectious, as if she has found a friend that takes after her.
